The Algerian Embassy in Manama Celebrates the 62nd Anniversary of Algeria's Independence 1962-2024 (Glorious Feast and Era of Renewal)

Today, Algeria commemorates the 62ndAnniversary of the restoration of its sovereignty. The teachings and insights of this memorable day will never fade.

In fact, colonialist France did not submit to the logic of truth, justice and, the causes and implications of events as much as it submitted to the logic of power and military might, embodied by the struggle of the people of Algeria and their indomitable will to achieve their emancipation, for which they fought for a long time and struggled during their seven years last Victorious Revolution, when they offered a million and a half million of martyrs on the Altar of freedom.

Realistic France realized its strategic failure, even though some pockets of arrogance and hubris clinging to illusions of domination remained unaware of this setback and tried to “retreat forward”, after the heroes of the Algerian nation planted the banner of victory in the ruins of its crumbling aggressive structure.

The independence of Algeria was an event that was engraved in the memory of the universe. It was a beacon that shone its light in the history of humanity and still guides all those who love freedom, justice, and the noble human ideals.

An Arab intellectual commented on this, saying: “The victory of Algeria means a victory of truth over falsehood, light over darkness, and freedom over slavery. It is not a victory for the Algerian people only, but for the entire Arab and Islamic nation and for all those who yearn for freedom and right and whose hearts bent to them”.

Another said: The Algerian Revolution was laurel-wreaths decorating the foreheads of humanity. It was not a conflict between an Arab Muslim people keen to be freed from colonialism, and a powerful and unjust enemy that denied them this right. It was not only a war between Algeria and the colonialist France, but rather a one between the Right in all the meanings of this word, and the falsehood with all what this word implies in term of evilness.

No people on the earth had paid a such exorbitant price for its freedom as did Algeria’s.  Algeria’s victory is a one for the humankind, wherever it is, over the forces of evil and darkness that obstruct its development and denigrate it. It left a lasting and renewed impact in the Arab conscience and remained a profound and insightful teaching.

The fruits of this independence are good and innumerable, including, but not limited to, the Algeria’s significant contribution to the decolonization of the African continent through all types of support, especially intense diplomatic activity that accompanied the revolution and continued after it. Algeria's positions became clear when it opened its doors to liberation and anti-racism movements. Through this, Algeria deservedly gained leadership over the Third World countries and won legitimacy that only spiteful and ungrateful would deny.

Algeria's influence has increased due its pioneering claim for the reform of the global economic system and the establishment of a new international order that would be more equitable for developing countries in general, and African countries in particular.

Algeria's restoration of the ownership of its mineral resources and the nationalization of its hydrocarbons sector prompted the peoples of the African continent to extend their sovereignty over all their natural resources.

On the Arab scene, Algeria has always been loyal to its belonging, strategic space, and depth in supporting the Arab countries especially the Palestinian just cause and in confronting the Zionist destructive project. It participated in all the Arab wars against the Zionist entity, and the history of its heroism in the Middle East has not yet been written since the Algerians claimed no reminders for their favors.

Today, Algeria is experiencing an era of renewal with all the positive meanings this word carries. A Renewal of the pledge of loyalty to the martyrs and a renewal offal the various state capabilities in a way that allows to meeting the challenges posed by a today’s world, dominated by the logic of power, complexity, competition, and technological and strategic rivalry. This logic has often produced projects of hegemony and disintegration, that Algeria with its people and its capabilities will remain always ready to thwart,

May our Algeria live forever sovereign an invincible.
